Guided tour of Villa del Casale (Piazza Armerina)

Guided tour of the Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, one of the most precious jewels left by Roman civilisation in Sicily. The villa, built in the 3rd-4th century AD, probably belonged to Valerius Maximianus, a powerful patrician of the empire. Since 1997, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, mainly due to the beauty of its mosaics, which are famous throughout the world. The tour includes a visit to the room with ten girls in bikinis portrayed in various sports: discus throwing, ball games, weight training and cross country, followed by the Basilica with its polychrome marble floors.
