Gambero Rosso awards the Regional Champion of Street Food in Sicily

The gastronomic phenomenon of street food has, in recent years, conquered the palates of consumers eager for authentic, fast and accessible food experiences. The Gambero Rosso Street Food Guide 2025now in its tenth edition, celebrates this trend with a colourful journey through Italy's piazzas, alleys and markets, highlighting the evolution of a tradition rooted in popular culture and branching out into infinite regional gastronomic variations.

There are 51 award-winning banners nationwide, and in Sicily, Palermo confirms itself as the undisputed capital of street food with no less than 20 award-winning establishments, followed by Catania with 9 excellencies and the Regional Champion of this edition!

Street Food Sicily: The Regional Champion

This year's regional champion is the new entry Scollo Salumeria e Gastronomia of Catania. For over thirty years, this well-known neighbourhood sign has been attracting the attention of passers-by with its glass doors displaying an inviting variety of products. The delicatessen assortment catches the eye, with cured meats, fine cheeses, preserves, chocolates, pastas, sauces, doves and panettone cakes selected by Italy's best confectioners and bakers. The rotisserie and snack counter offers tasty, well-fried arancini, calzoni, rustic cakes, focaccia, onions, side dishes, baked and sour vegetables, caponate and much more.
