A record Cannolo in Caltanissetta

The Sicilian cannolo is a pride of Sicilian pastry making, a record-breaking recipe appreciated all over the world: a crispy fried wafer filled with traditional ricotta cheese!
To further publicise typical Sicilian pastries, on 11 September 2022 in Caltanissetta pastry chefs from all over Sicily arrived with the aim of making the longest cannoli in the world! And they succeeded!
The incredible feat was achieved in Corso Umberto where a 30-metre long table was set up! The work of food engineering was captained by master pastry chef Lillo Defraia, with the Guinness World Record entry approved directly from the official London headquarters and supervised by an international official.
The record for the longest cannoli in the world was achieved in Caltanissettawith a cannolo of an ascertained length of 21.43 metres, shattered the previous record of 5.75 metres. About 700 kg of sheep's and goat's ricotta (80 per cent and 20 per cent respectively) and 35 kg of sugar were used to make it. The wafer, on the other hand, was fried directly in the square!
The super cannoli was then distributed free of charge to the public, while the remainder was made available to charities, in compliance with food safety.
