That in Sicily you eat well, it is certainly not a mystery, but the Sicilian street food is a pride for the island so much so that the city of Palermothe capital of Sicily, has already been elected European capital of Street Food by the magazine Forbes. The Sicilian street food is to be discovered, the ingredients used enhance the recipes of the territory giving life to tasty dishes such as the arancine (or arancino), the sfincione, the panelle, the bread with the meusa, the pidoni, the scacce, the focaccia and many other pieces of rotisserie that vary from province to province.

The tradition of street food in Sicily is very old, already in Greek times it was used to eat food outside the house, in the streets of the city. Today the alleys of Sicilian towns and villages are overwhelmed by the smells coming from ovens, kiosks, bakeries, rotisseries, street vans and stalls set up in the markets.

Gambero Rosso, a leading food and wine platform, has awarded the best Street Food restaurants within the Street Food Guide of Italy 2023, selecting region by region the Street Food Champions. The activity that has obtained the recognition of Regional Champion of Street Food in Sicily is the historic rotisserie Le Savocherie of Palermo, renowned for the spit-roasted chickens, for the cut pizzas, but especially for the Sicilian rotisserie proposed both in the traditional version and in the gourmet variants.
