Mondello hosts the Windsurfer World Championship 2022

The bay of Mondello, located in the Palermo is one of the most famous areas of Sicily, frequented every year by groups of swimmers but also water sports enthusiasts. This stretch of sea is winded all year round, and for this reason it is constantly frequented by windsurfers.

Fans of this sport, through the portal Paesionline, have elected Mondello among the five best beaches in the world to ride the waves. It is no coincidence that the famous seaside village of Palermo was chosen to host, from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 October 2022, the events of the Windsurfer World Championship, or the World Windsurfing Championships, which see over 400 sailors competing for 25 nations!

At work there will be internationally renowned athletes including Olympians, world champions, young emerging and old glories of the sport. Among the great names stand out many Sicilian talents including the Olympic Riccardo Giordano, the Italian champion under 19 Adriano La Monica and the Italian champion Alessandro Alberti!

The program of the event includes regattas of the specialties "fleet", the spectacular freestyle and long distance on Sunday, where athletes will be called to stop up to the Island of Females and then return to the beach of Mondello.

The event was organized by the club Albaria chaired by Alessandro La Monica for the occasion celebrates its 40th year of foundation!
