Slow Food rewards with the "Snails" the best Osterie in Sicily

Slow Food, the international organisation promoting quality food culture, has announced the winners of its prestigious Guida Osterie d’Italia Slow Food 2024, a famous publication that offers a journey through the places of culinary excellence in the Bel Paese. This year, the Guide awarded the highest accolade, the Chiocciole, to 311 osterie throughout Italy; in Sicily, 20 osterie received awards:

Special awards to Sicily

Sicily, home of a cuisine rich in history and tradition, also received two prestigious special awards:

  • The Selezione Bere Bene prize was awarded to Me’ Cumpari Turiddu of Catania for its extraordinary cocktail menu and selection of bitters. The jury praised the venue's ability to evoke Sicilian flavours and traditions with a note of contemporary freshness.
  • The Best Interpretation of Regional Cuisine Award was presented to Ginger People&Food in Agrigento. This award is a tribute to cuisine based on parallels, similarities and culinary connections that transcend borders and cultures. Flavours and peoples mingle in a harmonious fusion that celebrates the identity of Sicily through centuries of culinary tradition.
