Gambero Rosso awards the '3 Torte' to the best pastry shops in Sicily

In the fascinating and delicious world of Italian pastry, Sicily continues to emerge as one of the most celebrated and appreciated regions. The recent publication of the Pastry and Confectionery Guide of Italy 2024 of Gambero Rosso revealed a triumph of Sicilian excellence, with special prizes and awards for talented pastry chefs and pastry shops on the island.
Gambero Rosso Pastries Sicily: Three Cakes
In this edition, two Sicilian excellences stood out, winning the coveted Three Cakes, a prestigious award that underlines the pinnacle of pastry mastery.
- Caffè Sicilia di Noto, a place where the essence of Sicilian confectionery is sublimated to the highest level. Here, an extraordinary and endless supply of irresistible delights enchants the palate, confirming Sicily's central role in the art of confectionery.
- Sciampagna di Palermo, a pastry where technique and aesthetics blend harmoniously with crisp flavours of rare balance. Not to be missed is the new cocoa bean-shaped cake, a masterpiece that won the Special Award for Best Chocolate Cake.
Gambero Rosso Pastry Sicily: Two Cakes
Sicily demonstrated its strength in pastry making, with no less than 31 excellences distinguishing themselves by winning the Two Cakes. Of these, five excelled as the Best Two Cakes:
- Caffè Delizia di Bolognetta , emerges as the ideal patisserie that everyone would like to have on their doorstep. Characterised by impeccable care and surprising versatility, this pastry shop offers a kaleidoscopic sweet and savoury production, capable of satisfying every break or occasion.
- Pasticceria Palazzolo di Cinisi , located on Cinisi's main street also has a prominent location inside the airport, offering travellers the opportunity to stock up on traditional Sicilian sweets, magnificently interpreted.
- Corsino 1868 di Palazzolo Acreide , a place where the production of sweets and ice cream knows no bounds. However, its offer goes further, embracing the pleasure of sharing in a space dedicated to book-sharing, co-working and cultural events.
- Pasticceria Cappello di Palermo , which stands out for the finesse and taste of its pastries, highlighting the talent and mastery of technique of its master pastry chefs.

ICETEAM 1927 Special Award
The ICETEAM 1927 Special Prize for Best Savoury Pastry was awarded to Cesare Gialdi of Délices à Emporter of Catania. This pastry shop won over the Catanese with elegant and refined creations with a remarkable aesthetic impact and an exquisitely French taste. The personal touch of pastry chef Cesare Gialdi further enriched the gastronomic experience, demonstrating a culinary mastery that goes beyond the simple preparation of desserts.

The podium in the Pastry Chef category was won by Fabrizio Fiorani of the Duomo di Ragusa. His highly contemporary, refined and creative creations are the perfect conclusion to a meal at the restaurant, with tempting, tasty desserts in perfect balance with the rest of the menu.
