Blue Flags 2024 in Sicily: beaches for an unforgettable beach holiday

Sicily, with its breathtaking coastline and crystal clear sea, continues to be one of Italy's most popular tourist destinations. Once again this year, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) has rewarded the best beaches in Italy by awarding the prestigious Blue Flags 2024. This seal of quality rewards not only the cleanliness of the water, but also waste management, green areas, cycle paths and the services offered on the beaches and in the coastal resorts.

In 2024, 236 Italian seaside resorts were awarded the Blue Flag, an increase of 10 new locations compared to last year's 226. Sicily stands out with 14 Blue Flags, with the province of Messina leading the way in terms of the number of awards thanks to two new entries: Taormina and Letojanni. Also Scicliin the Ragusa region, has been awarded the Blue Flag for the first time.

The province of Messinaboasts eight award-winning locations:

  • Alì Terme
  • Roccalumera
  • Furci Siculo
  • Santa Teresa di Riva
  • Lipari
  • Tusa
  • Taormina
  • Letojanni

Blue Flags in the province of Ragusa

The province of Ragusa, is represented by four beaches:

  • Marina di Ragusa
  • Modica
  • Ispica
  • Pozzallo
  • Scicli

The province of Agrigento, is represented by a single locality:

  • Menfi

In addition to its beautiful beaches, Sicily also boasts two excellent tourist landings that have confirmed the prestigious Blue Flag award in 2024:

  • Capo d’Orlando Marina
  • Marina del Nettuno
