Sicily's best beers in the Slow Food Guide 2025

The Guide to the Beers of Italy of Slow Foodevery two years, offers an overview of the best national beer production, awarding prizes and recognitions to the best breweries, the most popular beers, the best ciders and the excellent places to drink and buy them. The 2025 guide is no exception, and among its pages some Sicilian excellences emerge that have received excellent ratings based on various awards: Chiocciole, Eccellenze, Filiera and Locali Eccellenti.
Slow Food Beers Sicily: the Chiocciola
The Chiocciole are awarded to those companies that stand out for their strong production identity and represent Italian excellence on the world beer scene. In Sicily, the brewery Ballark of Palermo received this prestigious award.
Slow Food Beers Sicily: the Excellencies
The Excellence Award is reserved for companies that demonstrate high average quality across their entire production. These breweries are recognised for the consistency and care with which they produce each individual beer, offering consumers products of the highest level. Four Sicilian excellencies have been awarded this title:
- Alveria, Siracusa
- Epica, Sinagra
- La Compagnia Del Fermento, Mascalucia
- Yblon, Ragusa
Slow Food Beers Sicily: the Chain
The theme of the 2025 edition is the supply chain, with an award dedicated to breweries that are also involved in the production of raw materials. Among the companies from Sicily, it was the Birrificio Baroni of Dattilo to receive this award.
Slow Food Beers Sicily: Excellent Local
The Locali Eccellenti award is given to establishments that stand out for their selection and service of beers, as well as for the welcome they offer their customers. In the Guide to Beers 2025, six venues in Sicily were recognised for their efforts in this category:

- Etimué – Acireale
- GlamourHoppe Bier Café – Catania
- Mosaik – Catania
- Noroc – Palermo
