Cosacavaddu Ibleo triumphs at the Italian Cheese Awards 2023

Caciocavallo Ibleo, also known as Caciocavallo Ragusano, is one of Sicily's oldest and most representative cheeses. This semi-hard pasta filata cheese is produced using freshly milked whole cow's milk. After careful care and a maturing process, the result is a cheese rich in unique flavours and characteristics that place it among Italy's excellent cheeses.

During the 2023 of the Italian Cheese Awards, Sicily took the stage with the 24-month Cosacavaddu Ibleo produced with skill by Alessandro Criscione of Ragusa. This cheese was elected the best in the category of pasta filata cheeses, thanks also to the long ripening process that emphasised its distinctive characteristics. A true ambassador of the island's dairy excellence, capable of bewitching the most refined palates.

Sicily achieved extraordinary success at the Italian Cheese Awards 2023, taking home not only the title of best pasta filata cheese but also two special prizes. The prize for the best milk derivative was awarded to Ricotta fresca del Caseificio Arnonewhile the prize for the best mountain cheese went to Piacentinu Ennese DOP of the Caseificio Valvo.
